Adventures Through Quilting: It’s the Fat Quarter Fumble 6 Week Virtual Quilting Class

Quilting can be FUN with “Fat Quarter Fumble.”  This is our next course in Modern Prairie’s Adventures through Quilting series.  This course starts on February 17th with the first video course posted, and the Zoom session the following Friday, the 21st.

Melissa has expressed her interest in crazy quilts, so this is a perfect segway into our Fat Quarter Fumble pattern.  There are many reasons why Tiffany calls her design a “fun” quilt. One being, that the seams do not (and should not) have to match up when joining the large 16” blocks!

If you joined us on the previous course, “Melissa’s Nine Patch”, you remember that matching and nesting seams along with correct techniques were stressed in the lessons, and solutions for wonky seams and mis-matched corners were offered to assist in becoming a great quilter. 

Tiffany stated, “It’s best to learn the correct techniques that are crucial to becoming a good quilter from the beginning. Now that the students know how to measure correctly and make accurate 1/4” seams, it’s time for a more relaxed crazy quilt!”

This class is for you IF:

• You have prior experience using a sewing machine.
• You have prior experience using a rotary cutter, ruler, and mat.
• You want to sew a quilt top using relaxed methods – no pressure on perfect seams. 
• You need additional guidance on measuring and attaching borders. This will be covered thoroughly!

• The Fat Quarter Fumble Pattern: As part of the fun, you will even receive this custom, special pattern shipped directly to your home to help you get started on your masterpiece. It features instructions for 4 different size quilts (as requested by our community members).  A $25 value.

Materials and Supplies Needed:

• 26 piece fat quarter bundle (included with course)
• 4 additional fat quarters for King size
• Border fabric ( optional- as outlined in the pattern included with course)
• Sewing machine with 1/4” presser foot for piecing quilts
• 120” tape measure
• Pins
• Seam Ripper
• Cutting Supplies (rotary cutter, ruler, mat, thread scissors)
• Iron & Ironing Board
• Neutral sewing thread
